The ALM Way’s approach is grounded in the cultivation of intentionality: process-making, focused listening, and value-centered experiences. Central to The ALM Way is the core value of fostering a different kind of ethics that take note of how organizations and companies illustrate their values, care for their employees, and craft spaces that facilitate collaborative exchange for all involved stakeholders.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to approach art through the full range of the human experience and not as a luxurious commodity, placing value on the distinct needs of our creative collaborators, whether individual artists, local organizations, or renowned institutions. We seek to highlight the voices, stories, and narratives of creatives of color through an enlightened process of exchange and interrogation, providing an overall experience that centers the inherent value of our communities.

CORE VALUES

The Story of The ALM Way: The ALM Way originated from the profound desire to craft a space for persons of color in the industry, from production to administration, beyond the commercial aspects of the theatre and toward the development of transformative art itself. The ALM Way’s founder Aaron L. McKinney was deeply influenced by his early encounters of the lack of black and people of color producers and administrators in the industry and sought to shift the narrative of exclusion. In the spirit of humanistic innovation, The ALM Way is a consultancy dedicated to the creative process of producing collaborations that speak to the artist and the audience, while also attending to other critical stakeholders, to include those whose labor is  often “behind-the-scenes.” This holistic approach to crafting art and theatre experiences that speak to the everyday stories of diverse communities requires an attention to care, detail, and process: core values of the ALM Way.
